I always really like the museum. I'm looking forward to the next visit.
Like other museums, a visit is certainly interesting, because of lack of time I couldn't go in and I only show the outside view here.
Building complex that is well worth seeing with great paintings and a nice garden and courtyard
Not recommendable
Lovingly cared for gem in the middle of Heidelberg's old town. In the courtyard with a restaurant. Inside there are always interesting exhibitions, especially about Heidelberg.
I can only recommend!
Admission is € 3, but you get to see a lot of beautiful things
Really worth seeing and really cheap, with the repertoire you could ask for a little more entry
Very big already a museum
Great museum for little money. Definitely worth a visit
Nice museum. Not too big and easy to walk around. Prices very cheap.
A great museum. Very well set up and organized. For so little entrance fee (3 €) I didn't expect too much. After the first few minutes I noticed that the time (2 hours until it closed) would not be enough for me. I should have planned at least half a day. There are various historical and art constellations. I can only recommend it and should I visit Heidelberg again, I will visit it again.
Nothing special and very small. Depressive paintings. The archeological part is not rich.
If you really want to get to know Heidelberg, you can do it particularly well here: the entrance is amazing! Drink what you hold your eye, said Goethe, and afterwards you can enjoy food and drink in the museum restaurant. With the changing special exhibition, a special aspect is highlighted, this time (now, 21.8--20.9.2020) it is Hercules, who adorns the market fountain as a muscular baroque fountain figure. Admission is worth it, free with a museum pass. The magnificent rooms of the Palais Morass with the beauty and splendor of the Baroque and Rococo, the covered silver table, the preciously painted porcelain inspire, and the painting of the castle with gardens before the destruction. Other sections show the early history, the Roman era and the changeful fortunes of the city and region. But I was particularly attracted by the Heidelberg Romanticism, which helped to establish the magic and attraction of Heidelberg - Heidelberg Castle is already in ruins and fits in with the ruin cult of the Romantics. I was here 14 years ago, and now I am thrilled again! Friendly employees show the way.
Excellent, huge museum, dedicated to good art, collcted by local gentry, and to archeology from Heidelberg and surroundings. With a huge emphasis on the Roman presence in the early centuries of our time....
The history of the Electoral Palatinate's development is clearly and interestingly presented Not suitable for a short "look". HD-CARD!
Great exhibits
The museum is a beautiful old building, unfortunately the extension does not fit into the overall concept. The exhibition rooms are large and clear, but if you want to read something, it is sometimes too dark. Unfortunately, some of the special Hercules exhibits had been brought back by the donors, which we were not previously informed of. The staff were helpful and courteous.
Offered a lot for little money. With Heidelberg card only 1.80 entry! Really huge museum with different topics. I think we accidentally left something out, but were still busy for over 2 hours. Not so exciting for children except for the interactive display with controller to explore. From Heidelberg in different eras. Exhibition of nobility and history as well as art. Some original rooms with silk-covered walls. Corona: face mask, one-way street, employees answer friendly questions. Sometimes you have to be careful not to go wrong :)
Very pleasant to eat there, especially in summer, when you can no longer hear the lerm of the city, it is a bit cooler there. Food tastes very good! Beautiful place to eat lunch or drink coffee.
A very nice museum and the scenery is pretty. Youth under 16 years old are free to visit it.
We had to pay only 1.80 EUR admission on Sunday (without a special exhibition) and were offered a lot. The only unpleasant experience was that an attendant pointed out that because of Corona you can only go in one direction (even though we were almost alone in the house). Probably we should have made the round again after leaving the house through the back exit.
Very good museum. We wish they have English description for each exhibit
Very nice
Great museum. It should have more explanations in English, but it is worth a visit anyway.
Superb displays
Good museum about Heidelberg history from Romans to today. Free audio guide and coffee for 3 euro entrance fee. Takes around an hour.
Wonderful!!
Looks good from the outside but need to pay an entrance fee to see more
Spacious well-stocked museum on the pedestrian street of the old town. Several buildings. Many interesting things from Heidelberg and the then Electorate. Large archaeological department - early finds about Celts and Romans ... very interesting also the exhibits and explanations to the history of the city of Heidelberg! Recommendation!
It was ok,
Beautiful place to visit
Really good museum. I definately recommend this place. I spend one and a half hour but it was not enough.
A gem of a museum. Walking past you might think it is an art museum, but the house is something to see, renovated back to what it might have looked like. Then there's the archaeology, and lots of finds and exhibits from Roman times. Porcelain, silver, glass. And ridiculously cheap entry for such a vast and interesting collection from local history.
You don't imagine the many interesting objects you will see.... and you are well advised to take your time.... this museum is worthwhile
Great sections about roman history
This is a must see museum! Their collection of modern and ancient art, was overwhelmingly beautiful. Make sure you take about about 2-3 hours to properly enjoy the masterpieces.
Beyond my expectation entrance fee is 1.80 euro .I really enjoy the museum beautiful painting and very interesting place for me to learn about this city .
Ueberraschend toll
Good collection. Interesting roman artefacts. Audioguide available.
Overpriced food and terrible service.
Amazing museum near the most popular street in Heidelberg. A must see for those curious about art and history of the area.
Well laid put interesting set up
Bigger than you initially think with some interesting exhibits.
Poor quality! We had a lunch here with a good pizza and salad So decided to come for Dinner. What a dissappointment! A small dry badly cut Dorade filet with a non fresh overdressed salad. Saltimbocca that was cooked to leather and Risotto that was prepared like sticky rice. For this I Would be Ashamed to call myself an Italian restaurant. And telling the waiter upon is Question how the dinner was he answered that we at least enjoyed the Nice atmosphere! Incredible. This was the worst experience we had in Heidelberg. I know that sometimes things Can go wrong but I Would at least have expected a better response to show that they care for their quality
Really good taste into the history of Heidelberg. Leave at least 3 hours for your visit, if you would like to be thorough.
A must visit for all art afficionados. A small museum, but there are a few items that surprised me. A painting by Jan Brueghel which I didn't know was there. A superb woodcarving of Jesus and his disciples. A landscape with a hunt by Gillis van Coninxloo III that I've never seen before. There are audio guides in English and German. Be sure to get one. They present interesting information about the history of the region in relation to the works of art on display.
Roman remains of Heidelberg.
A museum that is a little hidden in the courtyard on the main street with great attention to detail. Friendly welcome, nice and informative supervision. Many different departments also let you “survive” a bad weather day in Heidelberg. The entrance fee is reasonable and well spent.
The museum does not look so large, but trust me, there are many departments including one about archaeology which I liked. It is not permitted to photograph in the museum.
